*WANT A STOCK ANALYZED? COMMENT THE STOCK SYMBOL BELOW THE POST AND I'LL PERFORM TECHNICAL ANALYSIS ON IT FOR YOU!*

NOTES:

Charts below update daily with the most recent market prices.
"Scan" just means a stock idea. Comes from me 'scanning' through hundreds of charts to find opportunities.
When introducing new terminology I will try and link the word to an Investopedia article about the term.

UPDATES FRIDAY - 9/23/2016:
Pretty choppy day in the market, shook me out of all of my positions.. some may still be working but I just wanted to take my 10% profits for the week!

Closed positions:

GBT -3% - still consolidating, trade plan may still work, but it was moving too slow for me so I got out for a tiny profit.
ZIOP -1% - consolidation again. Too slow. Like it if it gets over $6. Sold for small profit.
BCRX -1% - same thing as above.
SCYX +11% - big day. Sold this for like 25% profit today. Could well continue over $4.
CRIS -2% - sold for 25% profit here too. Could go higher but we got the meat of the move already.
FH +5% - sold for a little loss today. Broke out late day after I had already sold. This should be a good one next week!

Waiting:
DSX -3% - could be a good buy next week for trade plan to continue.
VCEL +11% - didn't have any available funds so I just had to watch this go exactly as I had planned! That sucked. But hopefully you made the trade!

UPDATES THURSDAY - 9/22/2016:
Great continuation up in the whole market today.

Holding:

GBT +0% - give up on this if it doesn't hit $24 tomorrow
ZIOP +0% - big consolidation day. Still like it.
BCRX +1.5% - sitting right below resistance. Likely to pop tomorrow.
SCYX -1% - consolidation here, too.
CRIS +7% - KILLER DAY. Up 25% on this trade!!
FH +4% - consolidated today. Breakout on watch for tomorrow!
SKLN +0% - still sitting above $.18. If it breaks below I'll sell, otherwise holding for higher.

Added:

DSX (Diana Shipping Inc.)
"Diana Shipping Inc. provides shipping transportation services. The company transports a range of dry bulk cargoes, including commodities, such as iron ore, coal, grain, and other materials in shipping routes through its ownership of dry bulk vessels worldwide." - Yahoo Finance

Beautiful break out of the downtrend line. There is still resistance at around $3.20 though.

Trade plan:
Risk -6%
Reward 16-33%

Current price when posted: $3.02
+ Buy between $2.80-$3, stop loss at $2.75ish
- Sell some shares in the $3.40s and move stop to $3.20, if it can break above $3.50 I would hold and sell up to $4.50

VCEL (Vericel Corporation)
"Vericel Corporation, a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company, researches, develops, manufactures, markets, and sells patient-specific expanded cellular therapies for use in the treatment of patients with severe diseases and conditions." - Yahoo Finance

Close to break out.

Trade plan:
Risk -4%
Reward 15-40%

Current price when posted: $2.64
+ Buy between $2.50-2.60, stop loss around $2.36
- Sell some shares at $3 and some up to $4 moving up stop loss as it goes

UPDATES WEDNESDAY - 9/21/2016:
Federal Reserve meeting made today a little roller coaster. Played out how I anticipated for the most part though. Market faded a little bit all day... then the Fed announced they will not raise rates and market jumped by about 1.5%. As long as market holds strength until the morning I think many of these plays are ready to rip.

Holding:

GBT +3% - think tomorrow is the day for a big rip.
ZIOP +0% - primed for a rip also, need this to get over $6 and hold, then I think it heads higher.
BCRX +3.6% - again, tomorrow looks prime for a rip.
SCYX -5% - lost gains from yesterday, but still think it is looking to head to $4.
CRIS -1% - nice consolidation day. Excited for tomorrow.
FH -2% - still pretty much flat. I will sell if it heads below $2.50, but I think we can head toward $3-3.50 if the market stays strong.
SKLN +4% - got suckered into this one again. Chased it in the morning and bought near $.21.. fell right back down to $.18, so even though it is up on the day, I am down on it. I will hold this and only sell if we get a bad break below $.18. I'm only playing this in my day trade account, not my swing portfolio FYI.

UPDATES TUESDAY - 9/20/2016:
Great day today with my open trades. Portfolio is up 6.5% since this week so far!
There is a FOMC meeting tomorrow morning. FOMC meeting is where the Federal Reserve speaks about the economy and whether or not they plan on raising interest rates. This meeting creates a lot of short-lived volatility in the market. If we have good news, these trade plans will continue to work... if there is bad news or talk of raising interest rates, I will re-evaluate each of these trades.

Holding:

GBT +0% - being patient on this one. If it doesn't see a big day tomorrow or next I'll probably sell it.
ZIOP +3% - hit my target of $6 on this one today. Holding to see what the Fed does tomorrow morning.
BCRX +0% - Think this will go off if the the market rebounds tomorrow.
SCYX +5.5% - Still too easy so far. Looking for $4 on good news tomorrow.
CRIS +12.5% - Incredible. Past my target of $2.20, looking for a run to $2.60s tomorrow to sell.
FH +2% - Flat on this name. Will sell if breaks below $2.50. Still keeping initial trade plan stated below.

Scratched the idea:

SKLN +0% - sold this one pretty early in the day. Didn't like the way it was moving.
POT +0% - still a decent idea I believe, just too slow moving for me.

UPDATES MONDAY - 9/19/2016:
Almost all of my stocks from yesterday had huge days. BioTechnology had a huge day which is the main reason all of my choices broke out higher.

Bought:

GBT +1.5% - moving nicely. Keeping the same plan.
ZIOP +3% - same plan. Good day.
BCRX +2% - need it to break over $4.80 to feel good about it.
SCYX +8% - awesome early call. Got up to +14% today at one point. Still holding for $4!
CRIS +4.5% - think it continues.
FH -3.5% - bought in while I thought it was going through $2.75, didn't make over so I'm thinking it could tomorrow. If not, I will keep an eye open for selling my position.
SKLN -11% - no bueno. Didn't buy much due to the amount of risk, still sticking to the plan.

Waiting:

POT +0% - have not bought any yet. Will wait for lower to buy.

Scratched the idea:

None yet.

Chart scans are in the following format:

(CHART OF STOCK SHOWING TECHNICAL ANALYSIS)

STOCK SYMBOL (Company name)

"Company summary"

Personal comment about the trade idea

Trade plan (often times there will be lower risk and higher risk options):

Approximate maximum loss -%
Approximate maximum gain %

Current stock price

+ Scenario where I would buy shares
- Scenario where I would sell shares

GBT (Global Blood Therapeutics Inc.)
"Global Blood Therapeutics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, engages in the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel therapeutics to treat grievous blood-based disorders." - Yahoo Finance

I like this one a lot. I personally got in GBT at $20.15 last Thursday, but am still using the trade plans below.

Low risk / lower reward plan:
Risk -2%
Reward 13%

Current price: $22.57
+ buy around $22.50, stop loss a little below $22
- to play it safe you could sell all of your shares around $25.50 for a quick gain, or you could only sell some of your shares around $26.50 and hold the remaining shares to sell between $30 - $40, keeping your stop loss at $22

High risk / higher reward plan:
Risk -15% to -20%
Reward 33% to 100%

+ buy around $22.50, stop loss somewhere around support at $18
+ buy more shares if stock breaks over resistance at $25.75
- sell shares between $30 - $45

ZIOP (Ziopharm Oncology Inc.)
"ZIOPHARM Oncology, Inc., a biotechnology company, focuses on acquiring, developing, and commercializing a portfolio of cancer therapies that address unmet medical needs through synthetic immuno-oncology." - Yahoo Finance

Like this play mainly if it can get over $6.15, but the plays below present a decent opportunity.

Low risk / lower reward:
Risk -2%
Reward 12%

Current price: $5.50
+ Buy near $5.50, stop loss a little below $5.40
- Sell close to $6, or keep a few shares and sell up to $6.50

High risk / higher reward:
Risk -10%
Reward 18% - 63%

+ Buy near $5.50, risk down to $5
+ Add more shares if a break through resistance at $6.15
- Sell from $6.50 - $9

BCRX (BioChrist Pharmaceuticals Inc.)
"BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biotechnology company, designs, optimizes, and develops small molecule drugs that block key enzymes involved in the pathogenesis of diseases." - Yahoo Finance

Ideal trade is the high risk option for me, I think there is good support at $4

Low risk / lower reward:

Risk -5%
Reward 10%

Current price: $4.45
+ Buy from $4.30 - $4.60, stop loss at $4.20
- Sell around $5

High risk / higher reward:
Risk max -15%
Reward 10% to 60%

+ Buy from $4.30 - $4.60, stop loss at $4
+ Buy more on break over $4.80
- Sell from $5 - $6

POT (Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc.)

"Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc., together with its subsidiaries, produces and sells fertilizers, and related industrial and feed products worldwide." - Yahoo Finance

POT is trading in pretty well defined channelbuy when it is at the bottom of the channel and sell when it is near the top of the channel, rinse and repeat. Keep doing this until the stock breaks out of the channel significantly in either direction.

Trade plan:
Risk -3%
Reward 13%+

Current price: $15.99
+ Buy around $16, stop loss at $15.50
- Sell at $18+

SCYX (Scynexis Inc.)
"SCYNEXIS, Inc., a pharmaceutical company, develops and commercializes novel anti-infectives to address unmet therapeutic needs." - Yahoo Finance

Nice break over the downtrend line. This is an easy one.

Trade plan:
Risk -8%
Reward 23%

Current price: $3.25
+ Buy near $3.25, stop out at $3
- Sell close to $4

CRIS (Curis, Inc.)
"Curis, Inc., a biotechnology company, engages in the discovery and development of drug candidates for the treatment of human cancers." - Yahoo Finance

Same idea as SCYX above.

Trade plan:
Risk -5%
Reward 10%+

Current price: $2.02
+ Buy at $2, stop loss set at $1.90
- Sell some shares at $2.20, sell the rest on the way up to $3

FH (Form Holdings)
"FORM Holdings Corp., together with its subsidiaries, develops, acquires, and monetizes intellectual property worldwide. It operates through three segments: Intellectual Property, Fli Charge, and Group Mobile." - Yahoo Finance

Trade plan:

Risk -3%
Reward 9% to 45%

Current price: $2.67
+ Buy break over $2.75, stop out at $2.70
- Sell some shares at $3, keep rest to sell $4+

SKLN (Skyline Medical Inc.)
"Skyline Medical, Inc., a medical device company, manufactures environmentally conscientious system for the collection and disposal of infectious fluids that result from surgical procedures and post-operative care in the United States." - Yahoo Finance

I do not recommend this trade... but there is potential.

Trade idea:
Risk -25%
Reward 35%+

Current price: $.20
+ Buy at $.20, stop out at $.15
- Sell half of position at $.25, move stop out price $.20
- Sell other half of position at $.30+

    2. Cool, also i was just wondering what type of methods you used to find these stocks. Im 17 new to trading with 1000 cad but nothing invested yet since i want to be able to feel confident with my decision and have been reading as much as i can. Still have no clue on what to look for and how it all works but some tips would be appreciated

    3. I wouldn't trade yet. Learn first, then trade. I use a stock screener and technical analysis to find these stocks. Learn about technical analysis, fundamental analysis, how to place trades, etc. Learn as much as you can before you place your first trade!

    6. Yup. I lost all my money more than once when I was getting started. It's called your "market tuition". Keep checking in and I'll keep putting up ideas so hopefully you can get in at good entries! Good luck

    1. The buy point or "entry" is there because that is where I think the idea has a good risk v. reward scenario, if I miss it I typically wait until the chart presents another good scenario before getting in. You can always buy higher and still make money, but I like to give ideas with the highest probability of success. So, say you bought CRIS today at $2.35, way high over my buy recommendation at $2, you'll still make money if it goes to $2.50... but what if it goes back down to $2? If you miss out on a good play don't worry, there is always going to be more opportunities!

  3. Great blog here, your reflections on your trade are very candid and "calmed down" compared to most of what I find floating around the internet. I've been trading for about nine months or so and only recently decided to see what other people were up to...and ever since I started reading other people's opinions my returns have dropped. Reading your blog brings me back to the functional ideas I started with that worked, so thanks for that. It's nice to get away from the constant OMG AMD!!! and OMGSELLSELL!!11! which in my experience, is detrimental to good trading. It's amazing how contagious that stuff is.

So yeah. Thanks, and keep it going, resources like this are valuable and I've learned/remembered a thing or two from you.

    1. Wow thanks Derek. That means a lot.
One of the main reasons I started this was too get away from all of that YOLO trading you find online. Keep with it and let me know if you ever need anything!
